2008 T-Ball Rules & Regulations
- Each
player on the team must play in the field at least 3 innings of each game
(if the game lasts 6 innings)
- Each
player on the team must bat regardless of whether he or she is playing in
the field.
- There
will be up to 11 players on the field at one time, if available. You may play with 8 or more
players. The maximum number of
players in the infield is 6, including the pitcher and catcher.
- The
Home Team takes the field first at the start of the game.
- The
coach of the team batting will umpire behind home plate and help their
team’s batters as needed.
Length of Games
- Regulation
games shall consist of 6 innings.
- If the
score is tied at the end of 6 innings, the game shall continue to either a
max of 8 innings or the 1 ½ hour time limit, whichever comes first. If the score is still tied at the end of
8 innings, the game shall automatically be declared a tied game.
Official Games
- Official
games are when 4 innings have been completed.
- If the
game is called for any reason (lightning, rain, bad field conditions,
etc), and 4 innings have been completed, the team with the most runs is
the winning team.
- If a
game is called for any reason before it is an official game, it may be
rescheduled through DSA President Jason Leatherman
or T-Ball Coordinator Robin Castillo if both teams can agree on a make-up
date for the game.
- Any
team manager or coach who withdraws a team from the playing field under
any circumstances other than safety reasons forfeits the game. (Refer problems to Jason or Robin)
Scheduled Games
- Under NO condition should there
be scheduling of games which would require a team to play 2 games in 1
day.
- A team
failing to begin the game with at least 8 players within 15 minutes after
the scheduled start time shall forfeit the game. You may still play a game with the
available players.
Game Rules
- There
will be a 10’ radius circle drawn around the batter’s box in fair
territory.
- The
pitcher’s mound shall be 30’ from home plate and be surrounded by a 5’
radius circle. The pitcher shall
remain inside the circle until the ball is hit.
- There
shall be 40’ base paths.
- The
batter will hit the ball from a tee.
- Play
will be dead when the thrown ball from the outfield reaches the dirt
infield. Base runners should not
proceed past the base they are running to at that time.
Batter Rules
- If a
batter attempts to hit the ball but misses the ball or the tee, it is
called a strike.
- If a
batter hits the ball but it does not go beyond the 10’ circle, it is
called a strike.
- There
is no strikeout. The player bats
until he or she hits the ball in fair territory.
- There
will be only one base awarded on an overthrow beyond the base where the
runner was advancing to at the time of the throw. An overthrow is defined as a ball that
goes out of play or beyond the imaginary extension of the foul line
fences.
Six Run Rule
- Teams
will only be allowed to score a maximum of 6 runs per inning no matter how
many outs. When the 6th
run crosses home plate, the inning is over.
The league is to teach the basics of ball and to have fun!
